Professional Summary

Rome Thalop is the Founder, Chairman, and CEO of The Thalop Group Inc., a nationwide real estate development and investment firm established in 2018. Under his leadership, the firm has completed more than $20 million in real estate development projects and currently has approximately $100 million in active Indianapolis-based developments, with additional major proposed projects focused on community growth, education, and long-term economic impact.

His development work includes residential, commercial, assembly, conference, educational, and mixed-use projects designed to meet community needs. 

Beyond real estate, Mr. Thalop serves as Founder and Chair of The Thalop Foundation, which has contributed more than $100,000 to major Burmese and Chin community organizations, including the Burmese Community of North America, Burmese American Community Institute, Chin Community of Indiana, and other nonprofit partners. The foundation supports education, mental health, community development, financial education, and economic empowerment initiatives.

Mr. Thalop also chairs the Institute of Peace & Federal Democracy, a Myanmar-led, U.S.-registered nonprofit supporting Myanmar’s transition toward peaceful and inclusive federal democracy.

He was also a founding investor in Generations Community Bank and serves as Co-Chair of its Board of Advisors. Generations Community Bank is the first minority depository institution in the State of Indiana. Mr. Thalop has played a leading role in strengthening connections between the bank and the Chin and Burmese communities, including community partnerships connected to the bank’s Southside Indianapolis presence.

A frequent speaker on leadership, real estate development, philanthropy, financial empowerment, and community-driven investment, Mr. Thalop has spoken at the University of Indianapolis, the Burmese American Community Institute, Chin National Day events, and other community-based organizations. Through The Thalop Foundation, he also hosts an annual gala that brings together nonprofit partners, business leaders, civic leaders, and community stakeholders.
